Information about the Aihoku Amateur Radio Club
Our club was established in Ichinomiya City in 1961 and has been holding various events and community activities, but in recent years we faced a decline in members and an aging membership, and we urgently needed to revamp it.
So in April 2024, a new JA2YAK was launched with newly elected leadership members and began building the new JA2YAK and in August 2024, a clubhouse where anyone, regardless of age or gender, can gather together was completed. This clubhouse functions as a headquarters for the Aihoku Amateur Radio Club, and although it is not open to the public, it has a variety of features such as a small banquet room, guest house, cafe, bar, and mahjong parlor. We think it will be a wonderful place for friends to get together for events etc., and is also a great opportunity for networking and meeting new friends.
The concept is to provide a place where members, from 4th to 1st class amateurs, can participate in domestic and international contests, pursue DX, enjoy coffee (and sometimes alcohol), and socialize and exchange techniques/experiment as they wish.
Aihoku’s members have mainly been from Ichinomiya City, but we are now recruiting new members from surrounding areas to expand the scope of the club. As chairman I believe that my biggest challenge is to train young and future members and I believe that the measures we taking to achieve this are in line with the direction we want to take Aihoku as a club, and will provide benefits to our members as well. Building a (nearly) cutting-edge radio facility is part of this.
If you are interested, please contact us in advance, and we will be happy to welcome you. We look forward to meeting those who share our love for amateur radio.
See you at the clubhouse!
